Legacy Butoh – Speak

Legacy Butoh perform Speak at Art Rat Studios during AfterMAF 2019 in Roanoke, VA.

Julie Becton Gillum – movement
Geo Lynx – video
Richard Brewster – audio

This was the second time that Julie, Geo and I gave this performance. The first time was at Revolve Studios in Asheville, NC, over a year ago. The audio part has two voices: a vocal generated by the Synthesis Technology E950 Circuit Bent VCO, and a drum sound from Mutable Instruments Braids. The E950 is triggered by a signal from a wireless muscle sensor Julie is wearing. That voice is processed through Clouds. The drums are triggered by changes in my brain waves, via the Soundmachines B1 Brainterface module, and processed by the Pico DSP.

This was the complement of modules. The blank panel (third from left) is where the wireless muscle sensor receiver module was installed.
