Genusmodu Euro Header Adapter

I’m so happy I have Genusmodu EHA, the Euro Header Adapter.  Genusmodu makes an excellent Low Impedance Bus Board (LIBB).  I don’t have any of those yet.  But when they came out with the EHA, it was a perfect upgrade for my large Eurorack case.  The kit, pictured above, comes with two adapter PCBs with 16 pin keyed sockets and five screw terminals for +12, -12, Ground, and +5V.  Plus the kit has plenty of #14 AWG wire for connection to bus boards.

The case is powered by two 4ms Row Power 40 switching supplies.  Each of these has two Euro headers for the power out.  In a typical use, these take your standard Eurorack power cables, which use IDC connectors and #28 AWG wire.  The small gauge of the ribbon cable wire results in higher resistances on the power lines than desirable.  Increasing the gauge of the wire lowers the resistance significantly.

After the upgrade it looks like this.

Distribution with EHA

I described the Synthrotek Wood Case in a previous post, which details the Synthrotek power distribution boards.  Although they have screw terminals, I wasn’t able to use them yet.  The Genusmodu EHA was a perfect upgrade.

Here’s how the 4ms supplies look with the EHA PC boards on one of them.

The longer board allows space for the shorter board, so that both headers of the supply can be used.  Note the red and black wires soldered between the two supply modules.  These distribute the incoming power and ground and are not related to the EHA.

Not only did I get better distribution to the distro boards, I got back a header to use on each board (there are 17 shrouded headers per board).
