First Mimeophon Take

The Make Noise soundhack Mimeophon arrived! This is a first take, with a simple patch. A VCO is stepped with random voltage, while the sine wave is passed through the Athru wave folder with the strike input being hit every time there’s a new sample. The clocking square wave is also used to toggle the Mimeophon Hold (patch cord in above photo is going to Flip, but that was after the recording was finished). A slow LFO modulates the Zone.

Initial Impression

I found the Mimeophon very easy to use. I had watched demo videos of it, so I was prepared. One aspect that strikes me as especially nice is that the controls have reasonable limits built in, with the result that there are no unexpected explosions of volume level, or runaway feedback. Here’s a one minute video (with camera sound) and a two minute recording off the mixing board.
