4U Serge Project Completed

4U modules in frame

It was almost too easy to add this rack of 4U modules in Loudest Warning panel format. All I needed to do was to make a 4U rack frame. The frame is just a pair of 84hp Eurorack rails with M3 square sliding nuts, held together with a pair of 4U rack ears. The ears were the hardest part to source. Thankfully I was gifted them. Left to right, above:

Though I called it a Serge project, that’s something of a misnomer. The only true Serge module is the Dual Negative Slopes + Hills and Valleys. However the LW panel format is inspired by Serge. The banana jacks are like Serge. The Asymmetric Slew Limiter is inspired by the Serge DUSG. And the VC SLEW is inspired by the Serge SSG.

Here’s the specification for the Loudest Warning format:

These modules run on +/-12V. I took a rack case that used to hold MOTM modules and tweaked the Power-One analog supply down from +/-15V. This case also houses and powers the Dual Benjolin project.

The whole rack is easily removable. Here’s a picture of the back.

Modules above, left to right, are in the same order as listed above. The green PCB is the Hale VC SLEW, which is the only module bought assembled.

I still have all those CGS boards that I got from you 🙂
I did buy a pre-drilled paperface panel from logan a while back, and have a boat setup with one of those CGS PSU’s I got from ya, Just need to dedicate time to CGS boards lol.
Might get some of Logans to put behind it as well.

    Hi Josh!

You can buy PC boards, panel PCBs, and panels from Low-Gain’s website, But be sure to check Modular Addict. They carry a lot of his stuff, and sometimes the prices are lower.

To save money, you can always make your own panel, and make it out of metal instead of PCB material. Then you only need to buy the main circuit PCBs.

  4. My universal rack ear sets have adjustable holes for vector rails. Just an FYI for the future.
