Quantussy Cell Configuration

Sounds generated by a patch based on the Quantussy Cell exhibit repeating patterns. Some aspects remain constant throughout, such as manually set initial rates, pitches, and modulation depths. These fixed settings create an overall character. Tuning these settings is one aspect of the “art” of the piece, the decision to leave them and record the sounds is arrived at by feel. The aim is to find a balance between the sameness and variance. In these “automatic music” slices the patch topology takes care of the variances, while the tuning looks after the similarities, the self-sameness.

The following ten-minute slice recording was made with the same Quantussy Cell topology as used in the previous post, but with a different audio patch and different tuning of the whole.
