I’ve often heard musicians describing their composition process as ‘hearing something in my head’ and then figuring out how to make those sounds. My process is different. Instead of hearing something, I get a patch idea in my head that I think might make something interesting. Often it doesn’t! For this patch I spent several hours pondering the possibilities for patching Quantisise. After I settled on a patch, only then did I look for something to control with it. I settled on Rings and Clouds, with Streams in between, all being controlled by Quantisise. The postcard recording captured ten minutes of the result, which is endless, having no beginning or end. It does have segments, however, because the sonic events happen in bursts.
very nice 🙂
