Random Control of Himalia

IO Instruments Himalia Penta Sound Source

Here is Himalia, from IO Instruments. I was playing around to learn it and made these two short recordings from the Red section that has a lot of controls and one output. I used an external random stepped sample and hold to control Himalia and processed the sound through Clouds in granulator mode.

For the first take here I used the 8-bit transient samples and randomized the sample selection.

The second take switches to a triggered drum sound, where the pitch is randomized.

This is a fun module and one of the few I own with built-in samples.

I did put a tad bit too much reverb on these!

Its a great versatile module. Did you try to change the samples with a selection of your own? I am wondering if it is as simple as replacing the files in the firmware.

No. I’ve never done any software updates to it. Fun to play live.
