Pod 64 is the largest of a series of neat little cases from 4ms. I decided to use it for a collection of modulation modules that can be patched as Quantussy Cells, among other things, and that can stand apart to be patched to sound patches in other cases. Here’s the Modular Grid rack.
- Xaoc Devices Batumi – 1974 Quadruple Low Frequency Oscillator
- Xaoc Devices Samara II – 1962 Utility Waveform Processor
- 2hp S+H – Dual Analog Sample and Hold (4 of)
- Befaco Rampage – Dual Sergesque Slope Generator
- Mutable Instruments Kinks – Analog CV mangling utilities
- 2hp Trim – 2 Channel Passive Attenuator
- Joranalogue Audio Design Select 2 – Dual Gated Precision Control Voltage Processor
- Steady State Fate Modbox – Compact dual LFO
With a total of 12 sample & holds (Eight 2hp, 1 in Kinks, 1 in Modbox, 2 in Samara II) plus two track & holds in Select 2, and 8 oscillators (Four in Batumi, 2 in Rampage, 2 in Modbox), I can patch up a lot of Quantussy cells, each requiring an oscillator and two sample & holds.
The patch picture shows five Quantussy cells patched up, with the Rampage left free for audio oscillator duties. Four of the S&H outputs are patched to Rampage’s Rise and Fall CV inputs, resulting in control over both pitch and timbre. Four cells were made from Batumi LFOs and 2hp S&Hs. The fifth was made from the three phase LFO in Modbox, plus the two extra S&Hs. Joranalogue Select 2 came in handy to get a pulse wave from a sine wave for triggering the S&Hs.
Adding a filter to the patch and controlling it with a fifth S&H output.
