I decided to make an automatically playing patch for myself to listen to while having a ketamine medicine journey. I’d already had several such sessions, listening to recommended playlists. The music is a big part of the experience and I am picky. I felt that I was listening to music composed by people with other mindsets. Listening to my own music would make it my own experience.
I worked on the patch for a few days, making a recording of each trial. The patch is driven by a five cell quantussy ring, in which two of the cells (LFO + two Sample & Holds) included the newly acquired ADDAC507 Random Bezier Waves. The audio comes from three oscillators, the Dannysound EN129, the Dannysound Cali Oscillator, and the Joranalogue Generate 3. The mixed audio was passed through either the Qu-Bit Aurora or the Holocene NLMM and then through Qu-Bit Data Bender, Venus Instruments Veno-Echo 2022, and FX Aid Pro in Clouds Reverb. I spent a lot of time tweaking envelopes and trying different combinations of effects.
Development
I present six recordings made during the development process. The first three were made with Aurora and the later ones used NLMM. You may like to skip to the last and final take that I used for my session. It worked pretty well for me.
Nice. Patch, set and setting.
