{"id":775,"date":"2012-07-29T14:42:44","date_gmt":"2012-07-29T19:42:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pugix.com\/synth\/?p=775"},"modified":"2012-07-29T14:42:44","modified_gmt":"2012-07-29T19:42:44","slug":"dressing-plumbutter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pugix.com\/synth\/dressing-plumbutter\/","title":{"rendered":"Dressing Plumbutter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I was adding a battery holder to my <a title=\"plumbutter\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ciat-lonbarde.net\/plumbutter\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Plumbutter<\/a> and decided to dress the wiring.\u00a0 It&#8217;s not a necessity, but I think it&#8217;s good to twist a ground with a signal wire for some shielding effect.\u00a0 The first and easy step was to twist the wires going to the eight quarter-inch jacks.\u00a0 These have two wires, signal and ground, but they aren&#8217;t twisted.\u00a0 Remove the jack by unscrewing the hand-tightened nut, gently twist the wires, and replace the jack.\u00a0 The second step was to add a ground wire to be twisted with each signal wire going from the main board to the mixer.\u00a0 I made up twisted pairs of #24 stranded wire and replaced the existing solid wires with these.\u00a0 I soldered one end of the ground wire (white for visibility) to a pad clearly meant for this use next to each of the outputs on the board.\u00a0 The mixer end of the ground wire is left unconnected.\u00a0 I used red\/white for modules on one side and black\/white for those on the other side.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pugix.com\/synth\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/plumbutter-wiring-500px.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-attachment-id=\"780\" data-permalink=\"https:\/\/pugix.com\/synth\/dressing-plumbutter\/plumbutter-wiring-500px\/\" data-orig-file=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pugix.com\/synth\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/plumbutter-wiring-500px.jpg?fit=500%2C300&amp;ssl=1\" data-orig-size=\"500,300\" data-comments-opened=\"1\" data-image-meta=\"{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;created_timestamp&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;copyright&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;focal_length&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;iso&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;shutter_speed&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:&quot;&quot;}\" data-image-title=\"plumbutter-wiring\" data-image-description=\"\" data-image-caption=\"\" data-large-file=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pugix.com\/synth\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/plumbutter-wiring-500px.jpg?fit=500%2C300&amp;ssl=1\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-780\" title=\"plumbutter-wiring\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pugix.com\/synth\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/plumbutter-wiring-500px.jpg?resize=500%2C300&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pugix.com\/synth\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/plumbutter-wiring-500px.jpg?w=500&amp;ssl=1 500w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/pugix.com\/synth\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/plumbutter-wiring-500px.jpg?resize=300%2C180&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The battery holder mounts in the hole the original battery leads went through. \u00a0 I drilled a new hole for the battery leads between it and the power inlet.\u00a0 Radio Shack supplied the the battery holder and power clip.\u00a0 The clip&#8217;s wiring comes out of the short edge, which is just right for this.<\/p>\n<p>I also twisted a ground wire with existing leads going from the snare hit noise output over to a capacitor on a prototyping area and back to the mixer.
