This relatively long MP3 (10 minutes) is titled ‘cross product’ in reference to the cross product mode of the MOTM-120 module. The audio path is straight-forward. Two MOTM-310 VCOs drive the A and B inputs of the 120. The output of the 120 is sent in parallel through a MOTM-440 VCF and a MOTM-410 Triple Resonant Filter. Two of the 410 outputs are mixed to the left and right channels. The 440 output mixes to both. No VCAs or envelope generators are used. The VCOs, tuned in unison to start, have their pitches changed at random by two Sample and Holds. A third Sample and Hold changes the rate of lag on a MOTM-820 that sits between one of the other S&H modules and a VCO. This third S&H also changes the rate of the internal LFOs on the 410. One of these LFOs, brought out through the OMS-410, is used to modulate the frequency of the 440 as well. It’s one of my favorite aleatoric patches.
