of Ieaskul F. Mobenthey (IFM) modules, the Eurorack designs by Peter Blasser.\u00a0 I make it a principle to put all of my Euro modules into easily portable boxes.\u00a0 The one I chose for this is the Synthrotek Waterproof 7U (6U + 1U) 84HP Portable Eurorack Case.\u00a0 I took the 4ms Row Power 40 supply from my controller skiff.\u00a0 This new box needs to have the supply in a row, because it closes completely with no external holes.<\/p>\n<h3>Philosophy<\/h3>\n<p>IFM modules are ramp wave based, producing mainly triangle and sawtooth shapes, as well as pulse waves.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve become less interested in subtractive synthesis, which uses filters to reduce harmonic content, and more interested in wave shaping, especially wave folding.\u00a0 So I went looking around the world of Euro for modules that would support this concept.\u00a0 I selected two, each having different ideas\u00a0 behind them:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mutable Instruments:\u00a0 Warps<\/li>\n<li>WMD: Phase Displacement Oscillator (PDO)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I will have much more detail about these, and about all the modules in this case, in separate posts.\u00a0 Here I want to emphasize the system as a whole.\u00a0 It needed to have enough functionality to be played by itself.\u00a0 I tried to balance the standard functions, as follows:<\/p>\n<h5>VCO<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Most of the capability is from IFM:\u00a0 Two Denums, one Fourses, and two Swoops.<\/li>\n<li>The other main player is the PDO, which is a single VCO with four wave shapers.<\/li>\n<li>Warps also includes a VCO.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>VCA<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>The Verbos Scan and Pan is a deluxe output module with eight VCAs, four for level control and four for panning.\u00a0 These handle the output mix levels.<\/li>\n<li>The WMD Triple Bi-polar VCA is the workhorse VCA for control voltages, but also for audio.<\/li>\n<li>Warps includes two VCAs, one on each input.<\/li>\n<li>Each Denum includes a strange VCA that I will have more to say about.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>VCF<\/h5>\n<p>Going light on filters, we have<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>IFM Sprott<\/li>\n<li>WMD Quad Anti-Aliasing Filter (QAAF)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>LFO<\/h5>\n<p>All of the aforementioned VCOs go low, except for the one in Warps.\u00a0 Additional LFO capability is provided by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Peaks, which has two LFOs with manual selection of several wave forms.<\/li>\n<li>Maths, which can cycle as a dual LFO.<\/li>\n<li>Pip Slopes, which can cycle as LFO.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>Envelope Generator<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>IFM Swoops (2)<\/li>\n<li>Peaks (2)<\/li>\n<li>Maths (2)<\/li>\n<li>Pip Slopes (4)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>Slew<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Maths (2)<\/li>\n<li>Pulp Logic manual slews (2)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>VC Mixers<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Triple Bi-polar VCA<\/li>\n<li>Warps<\/li>\n<li>Scan and Pan<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>Manual Mixers<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Mutable Instruments Shades (much like an Oakley Multi-mix)<\/li>\n<li>QAAF<\/li>\n<li>Maths<\/li>\n<li>Two Pulp Logic summing modules, with outboard attenuators<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>Inverting<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Shades (3)<\/li>\n<li>Triple Bi-polar VCA (3)<\/li>\n<li>Maths (2)<\/li>\n<li>Pulp Logic inverter (2)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>DC Offset<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Shades (3)<\/li>\n<li>Maths (2)<\/li>\n<li>Triple Bi-polar VCA (3)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>Sample and Hold<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Pulp Logic S&amp;H (2)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>Comparator<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Pulp Logic comparator (2)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I decided to get a set of Ieaskul F.
