On Saturday, December 11, 2021, I played a live improvisation at the Bottle Shop in West Asheville, NC. Very fun event. I decided to do something a little unusual for me, a beat-based patch with four voices, driven by the Qu-Bit Pulsar. Check out this Modular Grid rack for the details.
Top to bottom, the voices were:
The robot voice from the Synthesis Technology E950. The word spoken was selected at random using the Qu-Bit Nano Rand v2. I twiddled with the pitch and speed.
The RED section from IO Instruments Himalia, having 8-bit melodies with a swept pitch CV applied. I twiddled the starting rate, the bank selection, and the ratcheting.
Analog noise section of Himalia, gated through the Qu-Bit Cascade envelope generator/VCA, with repeats controlled by an LFO. I twiddled with the filter on the noise for different colors.
The YELLOW section of Himalia, having chords and drones. Pitch was randomized by the Nano Rand v2, and the sound was gated through an Erica Pico LPG and then passed through the Erica Black Stereo Delay for a dramatic, unexpected stereo ping-pong effect.
