This is great, Richard. I love how you just let the coco petals do their thing. One of my favorite things to do is get a patch going, press record on the Walkman and go get a drink. When I come back the coco is always doing something interesting and I get a huge smile.

Gary, what looks like two small boards are actually mounting brackets. Look at the right one. You can see how it attaches to the panel under two jacks. This was a bracket once sold by Larry Hendry. As for the mixer/processor on the logic board, that's only on the version 1.2. See http://www.cgs.synth.net/modules/cgs26_analogic.html

Hi Richard - I'm considering building one of these but I'm confused about one thing - What are the two small boards between the logic board and the ASRs? Also, it looks like Ken has an onboard mixer/processor on the logic board. Do you use that for anything? Thanks

I don't have the Oakley Discontinuity and really can't compare it with the CGS wave multiplier. Suggest looking at the CGS site for Ken Stone's description and explanation of how it works. In any case the sound of Ken's circuit is distinctive and can produce a wide variety of timbre changes, depending on the waveforms going in. I use it more often than some of my filters.

The ZO is a unique VCO. Cynthia does not release schematics, so I could not evaluate it. I did notice what look like reed relays inside, which I believe have to do with the phase reversal. If you want to do through-zero FM, the ZO is an excellent choice, if expensive. DIY folks should build Ian Fritz's Teezer VCO, which is simpler and cheaper than the ZO while still providing through-zero FM. I don't think that through-zero FM is absolutely essential to modular synthesis. But it is nice to have.

That we mixer looks and sounds like a little gem. i might have a go at this but i need to know more about making panels which almost seems to be the most dificult thing with diy. And of course I would be wanting mine in a DOTcom style panel with dotcom knobs. Still i really like your own version and I may consider a motm format though what i dislike about motm style panels apart from their knobs is they have no white legending around their pots. When I can figure a way like everyone else on this diy stuff to make some panels I would consider some of these projects. I also like yves yusynths ring, logic and minimax look interesting and love the job yves has done on those dotcom like panels. They may also be good first projects tho there is some calibration on them. cheers and all the best. oh I would love to hear some sounds of your synths, where can i find a link to anything you have done? aliis
